L. (Lei) Qu

Profiel

I am an Assistant Professor of Spatial Planning and Strategy at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands. I studied Architectural Design at Tsinghua University in China from 1994 to 1999 for my bachelor’s degree, and later on obtained master’s and Doctorate degrees in Urban Planning and Design at the same University (2004). Since 2007, I have been working at Delft University of Technology, in the Department of Urbanism, Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. My work includes coordinating and teaching in Research and Design Studios and Graduation Lab for Master students; supervising PhD candidates; research on comparative studies between European and Chinese urban/regional planning and development; coordinating joint research and educational activities with international partners. My research interests focus on inclusive planning and integrated urban/ regional development strategies, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches to tackle issues related to cross-cutting themes of liveability and circularity, as well as correlated planning education.

    Best Paper Award of the 10th International Forum on Urbanism Conference presented to Lei Qu, Xin Huang and Qiao Yang, for the paper titled 'The Declining and the Thriving Neighborhoods: Urban regeneration in the Chinese context of migration and economic transition'. The conference was organised by the International Forum on Urbanism in collaboration with the School of Architecture, the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
